Steering Committees
The
local Steering Committee is responsible for administering the Award
Program in local regions, as directed by the Governing Committee,
and it agrees to adhere to established procedures and to use the
appropriate Program documentation.
The local Steering Committee is responsible to establish relationships
with potential Recognizing Organizations in the respective community
in which they serve. It is also responsible to encourage the
nomination of potential Award Recipients from within those Recognizing
Organizations participating in the Program, and for managing the
nomination process and selection of the Award Recipient(s) who best
meet(s) the selection criteria. If the Committee determines
that there is no clear winner or that nominations do not meet established
standards, an award may not be presented in that year.
Currently, there are Steering Committees in three south-central
Pennsylvania communities -- Lancaster, York, and the Capital Region.
